Who are we?

UMBUG is the University of Manchester Bicycle Users' Group, supporting all cyclists at the University. There is information on this UMBUG website, cycling information for cyclists by cyclists, as well as on the University's travel web site about University facilities. You can follow @umbug1 on Twitter or join our group on facebook and read about us in The Guardian's letters page 18/8/2009 and a blog we were invited to write.

Join our monthly Cycle to Work rides and free breakfast and check out our GoogleEarth map of the University including bike shelters and the 147 bus stops.

Bike Loans for Car Drivers

In Summer 2011, UMBUG ran a project offering car drivers (Univ staff) the loan of a bike for up to two weeks and help with choosing a suitable bike and were on hand to help with appropriate cycle routes between work and home. As a result, 16 car drivers have starting commuting by bike on a regular basis.




Celebration of Cycling: PHOTOS!

alt="celebration of cycling" A very successful ANNUAL BIKE DAY was held on Tues 21 June with stalls, security marking, doctors for bikes, & raffle all day, free refreshments for cyclists (until 11am) and a bike auction (12:30).

Student Union Bike Hire Scheme - 'Biko Bikes'

The Student Union have set up a scheme, whereby abandoned University cycles are donated by Security and repaired to be hired out. More on Biko Bikes
